The dark side of social welfare

Social Welfare is not social

10. Mai 2026

Ever wondered what’s the reason behind the social welfare system in Germany?

I’m asking if you yourself felt into it and felt the reason behind it being there and not necessarily the logical reason politics and media spread.

To understand the purpose of something, it would be interesting to observe what happens when it gets removed. I’ve got this method of thinking through coding. In order to make my way through a complex system and simplify it, one of the first steps is to start removing stuff and observing how that affects the overall program.

Imagining the German society without the social welfare system is not an easy thing, but since we’re trying to understand why it’s there (on the emotional level, not the logical), we need to imagine a Germany without it.

Without social welfare system, Germany would collapse. Not because there will be many homeless people and people in need, but because people would eventually start questioning the power game that rich old Germans have been playing for many years.

The concept of ownership will be questioned and rich people will suddenly not be safe anymore.

More people would start stealing from the rich, since they would feel the unfairness of the German society. Being born in Germany 60 years ago would immediately give you the advantage of being more rich than young people.

All German land is owned and in order to own anything, you have to work for many many years or be in mercy of banks.

True ownership is gone and that would get questioned and restored.

The idea of doing something you don’t like doing also becomes more tolerable since you would not be taking benefits from the government anymore.
